In Memoriam - Ian Dickinson (ON 1967-1974)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ian Dickinson (ON 1967-1974) on the 27th April 2025 in Colorado, USA.

Please find below a few words written by Ian's friend Adrian Cresswell.

"I had been a close friend of Ian since our first week at NHS as we were sat adjacent to each other, lived close to each other and came from very similar backgrounds. We were both very involved in the CCF and other School activities together, and remained friends for life, attending each other’s weddings and becoming godparents to each other’s children.

Ian worked for Hewlett Packard as a senior procurement and supply chain manager, until his retirement in 2020; in Bristol until the 90s when he and his family then moved out with HP to the USA, at Fremont near San Francisco and then to Fort Collins in Colorado in 2001. I was able to visit him in the states on numerous occasions and it was a friendship that just seamlessly carried on from when we last met.

Ian remained close to the NHS all his life, and had a unique ability to remember everybody we were at school with, a talent I sadly lack. He particularly enjoyed the Class of 1974 reunions, and the last time we met was last June at the 50th anniversary of our year group, where he reveled in renewing acquaintances with the good turnout of his peers."

Our sincere condolences go to Ian's his wife, Vivienne, and their three children, Louise, Michael and Simon.
