At Nottingham High School, we proudly uphold our core vision: to offer outstanding educational opportunities to bright children, regardless of their background.
Founded in 1513, our School has a rich legacy of transforming lives through education for over 500 years. From the very beginning, we have been committed to promoting social mobility and supporting talented students across Nottinghamshire and beyond.
When state funding was withdrawn in 1997, we responded by establishing a dedicated Bursary Fund, which now supports over 100 students each year. This vital financial assistance is made possible through a blend of generous contributions—from Old Nottinghamians, local Trusts and Foundations, and income from the School’s modest Endowment Fund.
We make no apology for our ambition: to grow a sustainable Bursary Fund that ensures no deserving child is denied a Nottingham High School education. Achieving this goal requires the collective support of our community.
But the impact extends beyond those who receive bursaries.
A diverse, inclusive student body brings immense value to the entire school. It enriches classroom discussions, deepens empathy, and builds a culture of mutual respect and understanding. When children from all walks of life learn and grow together, everyone benefits—from academic excellence to personal development and lifelong friendships.
