It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Hemphrey (ON 1941-1950).
At school, Michael was in Maples’ House. He played for both the 1st XV rugby team and the 2nd XI cricket team and was awarded his colours in both.
A cricket report from The Nottinghamian in 1950 said:
“The second Eleven, by contrast is a confident, aggressive and well-balanced side. They have won four games and drawn three and never looked like losing a match. All the teams can get runs with Niven and Hemphrey as the most consistent scorers.”
He was also a Sergeant in the CCF (Army section).
Michael was a member and Past President of Old Nottinghamians’ Society.
Our sincere condolences go out to Michael’s family and friends at this sad time
