In Memoriam - Alex Coxon (ON 1981-1991)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Coxon (ON 1981-1991) on the 11th November, 2024.

During his time at Nottingham High “Prep” School, Alex joined Treases’ House and represented the School in the National Prep Schools General Knowledge Competition (which the team eventually won); he also lifted the A Form Snooker Doubles Cup. Continuing his sporting success, Alex played a major part in one of the most successful u11 Football sides the school has seen, reaching the final of the Nottingham City Schools six a side competition.

Upon moving into Whites House and the main school, Alex’s talent for sport continued and he represented the school at various age groups in football, cricket and occasionally (when pressed!) rugby.

He was also a highly skilled academic student and excelled in his studies at A levels in English, History and French. Above all, Alex was also a great friend, travel companion and racounteur during his time at Nottingham High and beyond.

Alex’s professional life encompassed both a senior management position with STA Travel and (in more recent years) as a dedicated, empathetic and passionate Teaching Assistant in London working with pupils with Special Educational needs.

A number of Alex’s closest friends from his year group at the High School will be undertaking a charity climb of Ben Nevis on 15th June, 2025 to raise money for The Royal Trinity Hospice who gave so much support and comfort to Alex and his family during his illness and towards the end of his life.  The Hospice continues to support his family today.

The walk will take place on Father’s Day; a fitting tribute to Alex who was a very loving and proud father.

Alex will be much missed by many in the ON community and our thoughts are with his wife, Sallyann, children Dominic and Imogen and brother Andy and sister Sue.
