Funeral Services |
Originally furniture makers, Arthur and his son Harold transitioned into funeral services, and by 1915 had expanded into larger premises. After Arthur's passing in 1929, Harold and his mother Louisa continued to guide the business through wartime and beyond. Growth continued under Harold's son, Douglas, and son-in-law, George Rose, and in 1977, A.W. Lymn moved its headquarters to Robin Hood House in Nottingham, where it remains today.
Family involvement has always been at the heart of the company. Now managed by the fifth generation, the business is led by Matthew Lymn Rose as Managing Director, with Chlöe Lymn Rose as Director, and support from the fourth generation including Matthew and Chlöe's father Nigel as Chairman, mother Penny and aunt Jackie as Directors. They also have a highly skilled team, including the company's first non-family Director, Pete Clarson.
A.W. Lymn is proud to have deep links with Nottingham High School. Nigel, Matthew and Pete are all Old Nottinghamians, and the strong values instilled during their education continue to influence the ethos of the business today: integrity, dedication and service to the community.
Today, A.W. Lymn operates 26 funeral homes, four M.A. Mills funeral homes, a crematorium, a stonemasonry department, an in-house floristry division and owns the largest privately-owned Rolls-Royce funeral fleet in the world. The business is a proud member of both the National Association of Funeral Directors and by invitation the European Group of Selected Independent Funeral Homes.
Still independent and family-owned, A.W. Lymn remains committed to delivering the highest standards of care, personalised support and a genuine understanding of local needs. The company's roots in Nottinghamshire are matched only by its strong connections to the communities it serves – and to the tradition of excellence at Nottingham High School.
